Engine Surging On Start Up
Does Any One Have A Problem With The Engine Surging When You First Start Up It Happens Whin You First Drive Off More Noticeable When Backing Up 2004 F150 5.4 S Crew Built In Kc 2/04

my does this, i think all the 5.4's do it. if you jump in, start it and throw it in gear the truck will surge. normal idle is around 550.
when you first start the truck you will notice the idle is high (around 1300-1500), if you don't let it idle down first (mine takes about 20 seconds or so) it will surge because you are starting off at a higher idle that normal, kinda like doing a brake stand.
i wouldn't worry about it.
