I'm in search of a 2" front 3" rear drop for my 94 ford ranger. something inexpensive yet good quality, if there is such a thing, but anyways, anybody with a good tip for something the average college student can afford or talk his parents into buying him since he's paying for his schooling would be great. Thanks
There are several differnt types of dropkits, and each one is a little differnt in desgin.
It also depends on how low you really want to be. I have a 98 ford ranger that I put on a DJM 4" and 5" pro dorp on, but for me that wasn't low enough so I had some airbags installed. much lower now.
im just looking for a basic 2" front, 3" rear drop kit, i don't wanna go any lower, just wanna make it a few inches shorter and level it out, not looking to slam it, not into that type of look, and i'm new to the area of lowering and lifting, about the only part of suspension that i'll mess with is swapping shocks out, so yeah, whole new area, just trying to see whats on the market, that isn't too expensive, have looked at the flip kits, but i haven't seen too many vehicles with a flip on it, and if i were to flip it, what else would be involved? would i have to swap to shorter shocks? would i have to do any modificiations to the suspension kit to make it work, i.e. cutting/welding?
to do a 2/3 drop on your 94 is not a comon drop, most go with the 3/4 drop. But you can get the drop you want fairly easy. BellTech makes a 2 inch drop front coils and a 3inch drop rear leafs. There isn't really any cutting/welding needed to do coils and leaf springs, pretty much part changing. Its a good idea to replace the shocks when going lower cause you are shortening the travel of your suspension and the stock shocks are to long. With the drop leaf springs there isn't any need for a flip kit. One down fall with dropped leafs is that most will reduce your load carring ability.
yeah, i don't carry anything, when ever i need to carry something, usually they are rather light, or i'll use my dads ranger, so thats not a problem. That might be able to work, i need to replace a leaf spring as is, it is bent a little bit, or not really bent, but has an indention where it was hit in the wreck i had, but it has been checked by a local body shop and the frame is as straight as an arrow. how much would these kits cost, and what all is involved, any special tools that a normal backyard mechanic doesn't have that is needed for the swap?
