Same here... but I don't know where. There's some tiny little alternators on import cars; maybe you could jam one of those into a generator shell.
Alternators were available on Ford trucks at least as early as 1956, so maybe you could hunt down an original style alternator?

YES, I have the article in a hot rod mag in a box in the shed. Gimme a few days and I will locate. It was to run alternator on a flattie for show points. Also, I saw one at a local rebuilder about 2 months ago. Hang in there.
