97 Expedition Axle Seal Replacement

I have read various threads to remove the axle and have managed to get the differential cover off and I am now stuck. In one post it says to remove the cover and remove "the bolt"- The problem is I don't see what bolt to remove. Is it the small bolt that looks like it keeps the pinion shaft in place. I can't see any C clip to take off. Is it behind the gear in the differential. Got it apart so some help would be appreciated.

I can see it in my mind's eye, but I don't want to mislead you with less than accurate information. I'm sure one of the experienced guys will post the answer as soon as they see your post. I looked over the procedure in my Haynes manual awhile back, but don't remember exactly what the parts are called - I remember that once you remove that bolt or pinion shaft or shaft nut or whatever it is called, that will allow enough room to slide the axle toward the center. Then you can see and remove the C-clip from the axle...I believe that's how it works but Homer or Racerguy (or anyone else who's actually done it) can give you the straight scoop!

There Is A Small Bolt In The Center Of Spider Gear Housing, Keeps Axles From Moving. Take Out Bolt And Push Axle In One At A Time. You Will Then See Clip. Pull Clip Slide Out Axle, You Will Need A Puller To Remove Bearing And An Installation Tool To Install New Bearing.
