2005 Excursion: MSRP v Invoice

I plan to soon order an 05 EB X 4x4. Anyone with thoughts/comments re buying experience would be appreciated. I want an X, however, a local Chevy dealer is selling 3/4 ton Subs @ invoice + rebate w/o any games. A Ford dealer I spoke with seemed surprised that I had expectations that he could sell me an X @ invoice. Is Ford selling that many 2005 Excursions that they get a price closer to window sticker than invoice? Even @ invoice the dealer and Ford is making plenty of $.

Where in TX are you? I got mine from Cochice Willes @ Lone Star Ford in Houston. I flew from Atlanta to pick it up to give you an idea of how good a deal it was.

When I was shopping I could get an 04 or 05 at invoice at every ford dealer I called with no haggling over the phone. This was through the fleet/internet manager. This was in september and 05's had only been on the lot 1 week here in Southern California

Long Lewis in Birmingham has an 05 limited PSD 4x4 dvd new for $44,000.

It's black, if I was in the market, I'd be all over that.

Your price quotes maybe related to the technique used in shopping for a truck. Dealers tend to quote prices in reference to MSRP when a customer just walks in and talks to a salesman. On the other hand, if you contact dealer through the internet, e-mail, ETC price quotes are in relation to invoice. Invoice price is a good deal, NOT a great deal. Great begins at $500 below invoice less ALL factory rebates and NO dealer packs.

Thumbs up

When I was shopping that was their first offer not including any incentives. I had a similar expirience with walking onto the and the knucklehead sales rep

wants to start at msrp or talk payments/lease only so they can hide big commissions. I had a great experiance with the fleet/internet. They want to sell you a truck and not waste alot of time and they know what they really sell for and the deals like you see here on this site. A couple of emails then a couple of calls I let them know the exact vehicle I want (2004 EB 4x4 psd Excursion)And I will only pay this much less than invoice not including any incentives. Most said OK over the phone the first one to have the exact color/options I wanted sold it to me that day. There was no last minute add ons or "mistakes" or any BS no switching sales guys. They asked about alarms, extended warranties, insurance Etc. but I said no thanks they said no problem. All the paper work took 45 minutes And I was on my way. Too easy!

I located a dealer in my area of TX that agreed to invoice w/o any arm twisting, so that is where I'll start when the time comes ..... and work down from invoice. The responses on this forum are excellent and I thank all for their excellent input.

Now the question is how much can I expect to pay for a Ford backed bumper to bumper warranty w/no deductable.

I'm sometimes surprised that folks here at FTE outside of the pickup truck forums are unaware of the FTE purchase program. Even if you don't want to come to NY to buy a truck from me, you can still go to your local dealer and tell them, "I can buy ANY Excursion on the Internet for $300 below invoice. What are YOU willing to do to keep my business here?"
