Changing oil pressure

I have a 93' F-150 with the 5.8 in it. I resently changed the oil pressure sensor on the side of the block, due to low oil pressure reading. My oil pressure went up a fair amount and remained stable for sometime. Resently though, less then a month after installing the new sensor, my oil pressure has been constently fluctuating. With the engine warmed up and driving down the highway, the needle will move all over the place. The engine just turned over 180,000 miles, so it is old, but is there any way I can tell if it is just worn out or something else missed up.

Thanks

Well, the stock oil pressure gauges aren't really the best for accuracy. BUT, you may want to take the wire off and ground it to the block while your key is turned to the ON position. Have someone watch the gauge and it SHOULD go all the way up to past the H. Turn the key off when done and don't hold the wire there for too long. If it does that you know your in dash gauge is good.

Also, you will want to make sure the wire has GOOD CLEAN contact with the oil pressure sensor itself. Make sure it is not covered in oil or anything. You may also want to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge for 100% accuracy. Good luck!
