Weird problem with signal lights
Last week I noticed that when I signal left or right both of my tail lights blink. I know it wasn't doing this before. The proper front light blinks, but both back lights blink.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm kinda stuck on this one. Someone told me that it could be a bad flasher relay, but I don't think that would cause extra lights to blink. Any thoughts?

Look for a bad /extra ground possibly thru welded filaments in the affected bulbs two filaments in each bulb check each filament and each bulb individually - remove - try it - check bulb with meter and then move to next one. Read voltage at each bulb to ground for each filament and be sure each ground reads low resistance. If that doesn't fix it check flasher and emergency flasher should be able to swap them at fuse block. If this runs out it's probably the switch in the steering column or even a wiring problem - try to be thorough and methodical in troubleshooting. At least get a Haynes manual which has circuit diagrams in it - available at most parts stores <20$. Good luck.

The problem sounds all too familiar to me. In fact that's what brought me to this sight in the 1st place! And... it helped! ( thanx FTE!) In the articles section there is an...well, article ( as you might have guessed) on turn signal diagnosis for 70's fords. The overall info still applies to our trucks and basicly says if you've traced all your wires and they are good, it's the turn signal switch. Check it out, after you read the article!
