Reminds me of my very first truck, a '71 with 360 and C-6 tranny. 'Cept yours looks a lot straighter and prettier! The custom grille is sharp.

That grill looks pretty clean. Looking through your gallery, I noticed the gate valve. What's the story on that? How well does that ram air system work? Does it ever pick up water when it rains or crossing a creek? How much did that set you back?

The gate valve is for my 1/2" NOS line. Just kidding, last summer I thought my heater valve was leaking and I couldnt find one so I cut the heater hose and installed a shut off valve. It worked great, but since have replaced core and lubed and adjusted cables, so valve is old news. The air system works well, had to jet the Holley up a size to keep up with the extra air. That setup was about 2 bills, but would be cheaper with the aluminum hose instead of the neoprene. Of course the 4" K&N is an extra $50. The body is fiberglass and well made. The company has many different options and applications that will fit just about anything. A few other people have asked about it, so I have to dig their address up and post it. I cut 2-4" holes, one on either side of radiator for hose fittings, they also have under bumper, and ones that utilize headlight openings. No probs with rain, havent forged a creek yet.

Sweet grill. I think I'd like to do that for my 72. When I first got the truck the left side grill is busted and missing the broken pieces and the right side is cracked. All he junkyards are the same. Then when my foot slipped while working under the hood the other day and my knee ran right into the broken spot I realized why. If a grill is broken its probably because someone's knee bashed it in while working on it. Did you weld and chrome the parts or did you just buy and assemble them. And if so what parts did you buy and assemble?

grill parts

Go the hardware aisle at Home Depot or anywhere that sells tubing, rod, metal stock, etc. I used 3/4" square aluminum tube for grill, and 1&1/4" flat stock for mounting brackets. (2 on each side) Brackets are bolted in, and tube is screwed on from back with self tapping flat head screws. I used 2 short pieces for spacers to align each piece. Even found black plastic caps that snap on ends of tube to finish it off. I think I spent about $30 on the whole deal. Couldnt find kit to fit a '72, so went this route, as I think the stock grill is too open and shows everything behind it. It also breaks real easy.
