Tranny Inspection
My 94 with the A4LD is going in for a front seal, what I was wondering is if there is a way without tearing the tranny down to see what kind of shape its in and what a person should be looking for on these particular units. The price difference between a seal and a complete rebuild is pretty big and I didn't want to put out the cash if it wasnt needed.

just courious on what the shop is charging to replace a front pump seal? I've done mine and replaced the torque convertor at the same time. Just wondering what they are soaking you for when the front pump seal only costs $6..the rest is all labor.

It will be around 400. I would do it myself if i knew i dint have to screw with the exhaust but i get the funny feeling i will have to do just that.Some have said i dont have too and I would really like more than one persons opinion on this before i go ahead with it.
