if its the kind that stick up a few inches no tonneau in the world will fit. you want as much lid to bed contact as possible. look at a snugtop with a snuggrip system they seal the best and are the easiest to use. plus theres no drilling required so it doesnt mess up your bed at all
I removed the bed rail covers when I installed my Extang tonneau cover. It was enough trouble dealing with the bedliner on the tailgate and front rail.
I want to put a tonneau cover on my Edge as well. But I do not want to remove the bed rail covers. It takes too much away from the appearance. I was wondering what the round holes are (which are plugged)on top of the rail covers? Not the oval shaped blanks which conceal the clamp bolts. The round caps are every couple of inches the whole length of the rail covers. Any idea? Thank you!
What's the easiest, most cost effective, and stylish cover to put on? I've actually seen a truck with a 1/4 cap on the back to make it look like an extended cab, with a roll-away cover on the other 3/4 of the bed. I am thinking about getting a 1/4 cap. I need the storage space but I don't want a full cap.
I'm not aware of a tonneau that work with the rail caps. On my 2001 I bought a ARE. It is color matched and contured like the hood of your truck. I had many more comments with it on than with the cap rails. Check them out. http://www.4are.com/
When I drove home from the dealer aftering buying my 2001 Ranger with the black bed rails, I immediately removed the rails. I think they are ugly. I then installed a Snug Top hard tonneau with a key lock at each rear corner. It fits great and looks good.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Sep-02 AT 07:55 PM (EST)]I have an Edge too. I have looked for the tonneau cover that fits the Edge while keeping the bedrails on but havent had any luck. If you look in the Ranger owners manual in the tonneau cover section it even shows a picture of it. If you look on page 31 of the September /October issue of truck trend it even shows one. But i cant find where to buy one at.
Take a look at www.checkerpro.com It looks like thier tonneau covers would fit with the rails in place. I've heard good & bad about their quality. Perhaps call them I sure they would know if they can do it.
