Looking for information on wiring firewall mounted Solenoid Switch on a 98 F-150. Installed new Solenoid, but now not sure what wire goes where.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Feeling a bit foolish!!!
Did you get it figured out yet?
Anyone got their digital camera handy and can take a pic to post?
The 2 cables that are joined together will only fit one way unless you try really hard to put them backwards. If you follow the cable from the battery to the solenoid that is the post that the extra loose wires attach to. The big cable that goes to the main fuse on the firewall will only reach to the same terminal that the other loose wires go to.
Well, I got her running, but now the starter continues operating. Wondering if I mixed up a wire on the solenoid or maybe I have a new problem. Starter Drive maybe?
Are you sure the solenoid you got is the right one?
There should just be the 2 big terminals and the one small one.
One the 2 big cables that are molded together you can follow the one that goes down to the starter. The one that goes to the starter should be on the post on the solenoid without any other wires on it.
I'm just going by memory here so hopefully I have that right.
Can someone take a picture of this?
Had Alternator wire on same post on solenoid that wire to starter is on. Switched it to other post and seems to be fine now.
