I buried the expy and boat in the side yard today. Got stuck in the mud cause the front wheels aren't driving. Everything inside is fine. shifts into 4 hi and 4 low, you can hear the xfer case clunk into gear but the front wheels just sit there while the back ones spin. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?
Had same problem, check actuator on front axle. First time mechanic said a pin or something fell out of a lever. Second time it happened the actuator itself was shot. It's a vaccum/diaphram set up and must have perforated the diaphram. Hope this helps.
Hmmm! Keep me posted, I'm curious! I have found that in real "stuck" situations, that I have somehow overridden the front differential causing the front tires not to pull with the rear tires...This happened only a couple times, but I was really stuck. It almost appears as if the front hubs dont really "lock" when put into 4x4 high, or 4x4 low. I realize the front hubs wont lock in AWD, but I was a little concerned about it when in 4x mode.
check the vacum lines, i had the same problem with mine. pulled the boat to the boat ramp witch was in bad shape (gravel, washed out, and at a really steep angle) and my front wheels would not pull either come to find out it was a vacum leak on the line. check by the battery box cause mine wore a hole in the line from the corner of the battery box. quick fix and no more problems (knocking on wood right now!!!) good luck with yours.
Thanks guys, this site is great. Looks like my vacuum actuator has a blown diaphram. Anyone know how to get the damn thing off short of a sawsall? I took off the retaining clip but can't get it to budge.
