torsion bars
First, some have cranked theirs all the way up and some have broken theirs because there is too much tension. Also, you will need to get the front end aligned (That is if you are worried about tire ware, which you probably are). Also, drivability is another issue; you will feel this effect after you crank them.
I did this on my f150 just to see how much it would raise it, and it went up about 2". A big difference! WOW. Just be careful and make sure to get it aligned.
As for me, I wouldn't touch them.
Make sure before you move them, mark them with a marker so that you can go back to the factory setting. You don't want one side different than the other.
Note: If you do crank them, the bolts are usually rusted pretty bad, let them soak in a penetrating oil for a couple of minutes before tightening or loosening. You really don't want to strip those bolts off!

Good Idea.
