Timing Belts
Just changed the timing belt on my 94 2.3l. If anybody has any questions about doing this just ask. The Haynes manual was wrong about a few things. Mainly, you only have to take off the outter belt cover and not the inner. Also, you must remove not only the crankshaft pulley, but also the crankshaft pulley mount in order to remove the belt. Once the mount is off wiggle the big washer forward at an angle and then you can remove the belt. It's a pretty easy job to change one. You might also want to break the big crankshaft pull nut in the center loose before taking anything off the engine. Things like the serpintine belt help hold the motor in place while breaking it. If you have a stick put it in high gear or reverse, put on the emergency break, and block the wheels to help help the crankshaft in place.
