Interesting problem after rebuilding carb

i just rebuilt (my first time) a holley 4160 carb. well, i went ahead and put it on my truck (79 f150 w/460) and theres a tube in the middle of the barrels on the primary and secondary side. when i'm turning the truck over, gas squirts out of the tube near the secondary side. its a wide tube probably about 3/8ths id, and gas squirts out at an alarming rate. any clues? i'm totally stumped

I had the exact same thing happen to me 2 weeks ago on my Holley 4180. When you put the fuel rail on the carb, you have to be careful not to rip the little O-ring on the rail. I had a few other problems with the carb after I replaced it, but I went ahead and got an Edelbrock 1406 and I'm a lot happier with it than the Holley.

You talking about the tube sticking up on top of the carb? Those are bowl vents. If it is coming from there, then either the float is adjusted way to high or there is a small piece of debris in the needle and seat.
