Well, you got to big a cam for stock setup, but if you upgrade your valvetrain, new rocker's, springs, pushrod's etc, then you will be ok, but for compression you will need aftermarket pistons, and you might have your heads milled some.
Check out DSC motorsports they will have the parts you need.
This is what I did for approx. 3500: http://members.***.net/randy-barnett
Same intake and cam as what you already have.Bigger carbg though.
Good luck.
Awesome Randy.
Stephen, If price is no object (lucky b#st#rd) and you are planning on working the heads, then start with that while you are aquiring everything else. If you live within driving distance of Dothan, AL, email me. If you are doing an all out racer or street performer, money is no issue, and time is no issue...dude, what's the rush? Take your time and get it all right the first time. The only way you are going to know your compression ratio is know what kind of piston heads you have. If whoever rebuilt that engine didn't know to order flathead pistons in the kit, then you probably got dished pistons and that's going to hurt you on compression ratio. Even with those pistons there are things you can do to bring up your compression but not enought to make a hotrod.

They have a website you can go and look at all of their stuff, when you start to tear into your motor post back on what you find, like what your pistons look like etc, and if you can find a cheap way to get some digital pics and put them in a gallery as you go, we can all look at it and help you along.

Keep your stock distributor. Install a Pertronix unit in it. Get a matching Flamethrower coil. Spark plug wires are your choice, I like Ford Racing's wires for my small blocks, on my 68 Merc's 390, I've got Crane 7 or 8mm wires. Spark plugs are best bought locally, I like Autolites. As for Valve covers, that's your choice, I like the chromed stock ones, the old Cal-Custom finned aluminum ones ( I was going to use a set of these on my Merc, but they wouldn't clear it's P/B booster) and also the original CJ finned aluminum ones, but these are pricey now. Valve cover gaskets can also be bought locally. A chromed air filter can also be sourced at your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto parts and ditto for a K&N filter to fit it.
