Alright guys, When i'm stopped at a light and push on the gas (hard or soft) I hear a clunk. Its not the brakes but Im wondering if it could be the driveshaft or possibly even a transmission problem. When i push on the gas at any other time it works great, its just when I am at a complete stop. Thanks
Not sure. My '03 does the same thing sometimes, and it has since it was new, but I don't worry much about it. Is this something that has just started happening, or something that has been happening for a while?
1997 4x4offroad 4.6 f150, w/ 172k miles bought it this summer w/ 168k, it has a clunk in the rearend, light or hard acceleration, if i decelerate for a lil ways, when i get back on the gass (light or hard) it does the same clunk, same here not worried about it, if it was a real prblm, or they were brakin alot, ud see alot more about it in here, and mine hasnt gotten any worse of 4k miles,
Do the factory rear ends on the 150s do the rearends have a metal tag that says, synthetic oil only, i been wounderin if this is a factory rear end, and that would help
My 97 did that also. It's a problem with the slip yoke that goes into the transmission. I pulled the drive shaft out and greased the splines on the yoke. It helped a lot. Some times I can still feel it but not near as bad as before.
Someone told me that GM makes a special lube for this problem but I have not been able to find it. I just used some grease out of the grease gun.
I thought it was the rear end at first but had it checked out and they said it was fine. Found out what was causing it by reading the forums and I think there was a TSB out on it at one time.
i have one in the back too if i back up and stop it clunks then if i go forward and stop it clunks but thats the only time any ideas i was thinking its in the drivers side brakes but i cant find anything loose
