I have asked a lot of questions regarding this engine but is finnally about to go in and i just thought about my starter. I am putting in a 302 motor from an 83 grand marquis and the truck is a 77 f 100 that originally had a 302. i know the weight on the rotating assembly is different for the 83 motor but are the teeth on the flexplate different from the ones on the 77 flexplate. i am using the 77 c4 auto tranny. i need to know if my starter that was used for the 77 motor going to work with the 83 motor. i don't know if getting a starter to go with the 83 will bolt up the 77 tranny. or are the all the same. i appreciate all help in the past and future!!!

i think the flexplates maybe different. i know they had different ones but im not sure what years. worse case you get it together and have to buy a starter. their cheap anyway. if you can check to see the bolt pattern on the starters. i think they should interchange.
