Motor Swap!!!

Anyone ever think about a motor swap? I know a lot of mustang people are putting the 5.4 navi motor in, i believe the navi motor makes more hp than the other 5.4s.

Anyhow, i saw one out of a 2004 navi with 8 miles on it for 3500 on eBay, with 'buy it now' for i think 6500.

But another search yielded a few more affordables, just the longblock and whatever else. I'm sure with the know-how and tracking down the parts, it'll come up to about $2k or less.

Think about it, drop in the 5.4, a f250 tranny (i thats what the L uses) and shift-kit, crane cam, edelbrock heads, blah blah blah. Or just get the block and get a blower, 80mm MAF, diy Lightning.

What do you think you would need to do this? The longblock, computer, tranny, what else?

It would be cool to build a one-of-one custom hot rod truck, but with today’s electronic everything, this would not be a project for those weak of heart or short on patience. I think you will find the overall cost will be surprisingly expensive. The best thing to do would be to purchase a donor vehicle to cannibalize as needed and part out whatever is left after the project is done. Your are going to need the engine, transmission, driveline, motor mounts, computer, full engine wiring harness, springs, shocks, and god knows what else.

exhaust headers and cats for proper 02 sensing as well. I think that the tranny is geared different so I think that our stock 3.55 gears will be to tall so that might have to be changed as well. Might be cheaper to just buy a used 5.4 F150 maybe.

Are you guys saying this isnt something i can do before i go to school today? I was actually thinking about picking up my girlfriend's dad's (brother's doctor's lawyer's dog-walker's sister's friend of a friend's) 72 mustang coupe, and dropping the motor in that, as a long term project. But of course, i just started dreaming about my truck, as i always do....

And as he begins his daydream, you can hear, again, the faint harp music in the distance.

Don't for get the cloudy/foggy borders differentiating it from reality. I never dream without them...this time there were circus midgets playting the harps, winged circus midgets, with roller skates and mullets
