I have a 2001 Excursion XLT. My headlight *** broke. The service department tells me I need to buy the switch to get the ***. $84 + change. That's ridiculous.
So although just the *** is broke they will put a new switch on (which includes a new ***)? Will they just give me the switch or will they install also?
Thanks Monsta.

Reason: additional info
I have a 2000 and my headlight **** broke also, had to order a new one because my vin wasn't in the recall. The **** was like $25, which is a lot for a piece of plastic, it wasn't exactly the same and had to grind off part of it on the back side. Any way it works just fine and looks more durable (in design) than the old one.
I thought I could just use an epoxy mix to glue the piece back together, but when I contacted the dealer, just purchased 2 weeks ago, they said they would take care of it.
When I purchased it it needed door lock actuators and a door panel. They were on order and I had just got it back from the dealer after they installed these items when the light **** broke on drive home from work. It was superglued and rubberbanned from previous owner.
So, anyway I am very happy that the dealer is going to take care of this.
Thanks for the replies.
Where did the $25 **** come from? The factory replacement is $84 due to switch and **** come as one.
Don't buy the whole switch. When I looked at the old one vs. the new one, the new one has a lot more support/reinforcement where the old one broke. It's just a bad design from Ford, seems to be a common part between the expy, f150, superduty and excursion. If any one wants the part number, let me know and I'll dig it up when I'm at home.
The part number would be good for future reference. the dealer (just purchased 2 weeks ago) is going to take care of it, but it might happen again so I would like to know the part number.
Now, I called a dealer and they told me the part isn't sold sepeartely. Are you saying it is. If so and it is cheap I will purchase it then have the extra switch and **** installed at a later date if needed. I was considering having them mail it to me and install it myself instead of wasting a day at the dealer.
