Intercooler Questions

HOW HARD is it to upgrade the stock intercooler to a better one. is it just loosening up a few bolts and transfering the old one w/ the new one or is there cutting, welding, drilling, and that sort of thing going on???

it is pretty easy, unbolt the old one and bolt in the new one, oh yea , and about $1700-$1800 for a hi performance intercooler...

thats lotttttaaaaa $$$$$$$$$$$$ !!! hey i have a SMALL chip in my 01' 7.3 already. it's a +55 hp chip made by BULLYDOG but i have no mod's. could this do long term damage to my truck even if it IS just a SMALL upgrade of power???

yes and no...hows that for an answer? the real factor in "long term damage" to any engine is how it is operated and maintained if you are honking on the throttle from every stoplight,change your oil every 30,000 miles and never check the coolant, modified or not the engine is not going to last. one of the things you should get are gauges to monitor the important stuff(EGT, trans temp and boost). with a chip (even a small one) i would also look into a bigger exhaust and new air intake....oh, gotta go my 1 year old is crying
