hi hope someone can help me out. In the morning when my 93 aerostar is cold i can shift into drive but it does not move. revving the engine it just sits there. After a couple minutes it shifts ok....is this the vaccum modulator or what? any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks, mike
Hello I am having pretty much the same problem if you look at the last couple of threads of mine on here I have had alot of advice come my way. Some of it may be helpful to you as well.
Good Luck!

It shouldn't be the vacuum modulator. Is your fluid low? When was the last time the filter was changed? Another possibility could be a bad drain back valve in the valve body. When it goes bad, the fluid that should have been trapped in the torque converter drains back into the pan. You'll be able to tell by checking the fluid level right after you shut it off, and again a few hours later. If the level goes up, bad drain back check valve.

Can you give me some more information on this check valve?
I have exactly the same problem and I would like to see if I can attempt to fix it before I call it quits with this van.
I will check the fluid as you said, but I think you are 100% correct..because in the mornings, my fluid is extremely high. Is this something that can be done easily? I have a Aerostar haynes manual but it really doesn't go into things to deeply.
