460 fit
Can anyone tell me if an older 460 block / motor will bolt up to a stock 1986 460 block flywheel, bell housing and five speed tranmission. Also wondering if I might encounter any other problems bolting up to an older 460 block in my 1986 F250 4x4, 460. Anyone know anything I should know. Thank you for your help. Paul Davis

Not sure how old reconditioned 460 is for sure. Also F250 4x4 460, reconditioned 460 is going in, is a 1987 not 1986 if that makes any difference. I assume it does not make a difference. Thank you very much. Paul Davis

well the only issue with the ford carb'd BB over the years was two things. one, sometime in the 70's and as late as the 80's (depending on the model) ford changed from the forged internally balanced crank to the cast externally balanced crank. my fathers 88 safari sarengeti has the forged crank, but my wifes 84 CC f350 had a cast? the other is ford offered two oil pans. one for the car(front sump) the other for the trucks-vans(rear sump). other than that the early carbed (pre 87) 460 parts interchanged minus the oil pump and pick up tubes.
