wheel spacers

I was wondering if anyone makes a spacer to put my tires out farther from the leaf springs so that they wont rub and I can turn sharper. If so where can I find them and about how much are they.
Thanks

I don't know that you'd want to do that with 39inch tires. Seems like it would weaken the whole hub assembly sticking the tire out further like that. Maybe go with a narrower tire next time around, that's what I had to do. Just my .02.

You really don't want to do that.

But if you do a search online they should be easy to find.

it's not a good idea for the above mentioned puts more stress on the spindles plus ou either have longer studs which would be more prone to shearing off or stretching or you have a double set of studs with means the spacer is taking all the stress either of which is not a good idea, if you absolutly must space the tire out farther I would look the changing your rims to ones with less backspacing, then the only thing is the extra stess on the hub

don't space more than an 1" out or you will begin to have serious bearing and hub problems! of course less is better but more can be disaterous!

I'm not sure what wheel size you are running but for 15 5x5.5 try here Spider

But I don't recommend it on something that big.

thanks for the help. I am not sure how much room I will need. I am going to go to narrower tires next time (these were on it when I bought it).
Thanks

ok, to clear anything up, having a wheel spacer of 2" is not going to put more stress on your hubs than having a wheel with a back spacing of 2" less than your previous wheel. with that said, you will not have wheel bearing problems either way if you install your quality bearings correctly and keep your spacers and backspacing within reason for your axle and tire size. the larger (heavier) the tire the more centered you want it above the bearing, but if you are running a realtively small (light) tire you can presumably run with less backspacing or more spacer and be just as well off.

after all said and done, the only way a spacer can damage anything as opposed to less back spacing is if the machining on the contact surfaces has too much runout, the two surfaces are not prefectly parallel to eachother or they are made out of low grade material.

no but you are stressing the lug studs twice as hard. if they were meant to be stressed like that then spacers would prolly come with the truck stock. it is just not something that sounds like a good idea....and i hate to say it but i may have to resort to spacers myself as i don't have the bling like some of you to go get brand new wheels just for an inch of clearance.

Fishy, why don't you go be a REAL redneck and just add a set of nuts on your lugs before you mount the wheel to gain that extra backspacing for cheap. Then be sure to let me know when you plan on driving it so I can get the hell off the street.

Heres the thing. First, spacers are hard on the lug studs as mentioned. Secondly, nobody puts on different rims with corrected backspacing to go along with their new wheel spacers. Defeats the purpose, doesn't it? They already have rims with the proper stock backspacing and then add wheel spacers behind those. Harder on the bearing, harder on the knuckle, etc. I'm sure some guys run wheel spacers and haven't had any problems. I've also seen guys on stock toyota axles running down the street just fine on 44" tires. Doesn't make it a swell idea. Wheel spacers = bad idea, especially on heavy rigs like our that are typically running big tires and seeing more than usual abuse. I guess if your a mall crawler wheel spacers would be just fine.
