Sometimes when I try to start my truck, the starter keeps spinning. I then have to pop the hood and tap on the starter solenoid and then it stops. Replace the starter solenoid right? I did that and then that solenoid didn't let go after I tapped it, I had to remove the battery cable. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be the problem?
Ignition switch on the steering column. Don't get it confused with the locking mechanism on the column. Switch sits on top of the column down under the dash.
Have to drop the column to get to it. It is operated by a rods that comes down from the lock. Part is about $11.00. Takes about a 20 minutes to change.
Ford Trucks are notorious for those switches going bad. The return spring wears out so that the switch is slow coming off of the start position.
