Changing Rear Bulbs On 93 Explorer
I don't remember seeing a resolution to the question so I thought I would post this to help someone else in the future.
YANK IT OFF!!!!
No kidding!
Open the tailgate, take out the 2 phillips head screws at the top of the lense assembly, grab the lense on both sides about three quarters to the bottom and pulled straight out!
There are 2 barbed studs that grip into pinch slots at the bottom of the lense and these are supposed to be just yanked out and pushed back in.
I didn't find this out by accident.
If you remove the wiring grommet from the inside of the truck, you can shine a flashlight in the hole and see the barbed stud and grip.
I changed out a rear bulb in 5 minutes.
