Changing Rear Bulbs On 93 Explorer
I was doing some searching here one night and I ran across a thread about the difficulty in getting the lense off the rear of the truck to change the bulbs out. It seemed that there was a confusion as to how to get them off?
I don't remember seeing a resolution to the question so I thought I would post this to help someone else in the future.
YANK IT OFF!!!!
No kidding!
Open the tailgate, take out the 2 phillips head screws at the top of the lense assembly, grab the lense on both sides about three quarters to the bottom and pulled straight out!
There are 2 barbed studs that grip into pinch slots at the bottom of the lense and these are supposed to be just yanked out and pushed back in.
I didn't find this out by accident.
If you remove the wiring grommet from the inside of the truck, you can shine a flashlight in the hole and see the barbed stud and grip.
I changed out a rear bulb in 5 minutes.

Yeah, same as my 95. I thought I was breaking something when I was trying to pull the bottom len out. It sounded like something cracked until I saw this rough nylon screw thingy on the bottom that was making the noise, I just laugh and yank it out.
