I have an 89 7.3l and I have the worst problem starting it. I get air in the lines after the truck is off for about 15+ minutes. I bought a whole new injector return line kit and traced all the hoses and fixed all the leakes. Worked for a day and it started leaking out the return lines on the top of the injector. an Ideas on how to keep them from leaking? It also seems like the one that leak wont seat right but I don't want to force them, because those little plastic pieces are expensive. any help would be much appreciated!
did you replace ALL of the o-rings and all of the injector fuel return lines? as soon as you do one you should do them all. the ones that weren't leaking will start when they're "disturbed".
Did you lube the o rings with some vaseline and did you replace the caps too? Are they pushed all the way down? When properly seated there will be quite a bit of the threaded top of the nozzle exposed. If you have to , you can get just the o rings. I have used a 3/8 drive deep well socket and a tap tool to put them on. Just make sure the socket fits around the threads and covers the outside perimeter of the caps,
Yes I bought the caps lines and o rings. I will try a socket over the caps, because it doesn't look like they are seated all the way. This wont break them will it? Thanks!
you only want to drive it tight, not thru the engine. They can be a little persistent when installing them. The plastic caps will look like they are sitting right on top of the injectors - no space.
I think i have solved the issue I will let you know how she starts in the morning. Got the 2 that were leaking to seat after about 30 min of twisting and applying slight pressure. Them guys shouldn't leak no more!
