What is this?

Hey guys! I was looking under the hood of my 94 150 2 wheel dr ext cab and noticed a broken line on the pass side of the engine compartment. It comes from the wire loom that comes through the firewall on the pass side. The white line is about 1/8" diameter and runs to a small device about 2 1/2" long by 2" in diameter that is half metal & half plastic with a metal arm coming out of it. This thing is mounted near the firewall. At first I thought it was a broken wire but the tube is hollow. Any idea what it is? Thanks

It is the vacuum servo that controls the fresh air valve for heating and cooling system. The line is a plastic vacuum line, no wire.

yeah, it seems as if they "dry out" or oxidate, or something, mine is badly cracking and crumbling, as well...
let me know what it involves replacing it, my controls aren't working quite right, and it figure that is what it is...

FordTruckFreeek, I spliced in a piece of tubing as a temporary fix. Not sure what it will take to replace the entire line. You are right, that line is in pretty bad shape.
