4 barrel or 2 barrel

I just wanted to here everyones opinion on this wether to go with the factory 2 barrel on upgrade to a 4 barrel carb on my 302 in my 79 f150 4x4 shortbed thanks

I would say it depends partially on your driving style. I believe you will get better mileage with a 4 barrel, due to smaller primary barrels, but only if you keep your foot out of it. If your driving is a bit aggressive you'll get worse mileage, but have more fun in the process.

If you want to pull stumps off road or snow plow then Id go with a big 2300 2bbl.

If it is gonna see a lot of regular driving then a 600 Edelbrock 4 bbl would be about right. If you choose mechanical secondaries then you have some control over low speed power also.

As long as you keep your foot deep out of the accelerater you will get better fuel economy w/the 4bbl. As long as the secondaries stay closed it will get good economy. I would opt for the 4bbl.

I'd go with the four barrel. You have the better gas mileage with the four but have the benefits of having the secondarys when you need them.

go with the 4-barrel and you'll enjoy the heck out of it!
