After only 6 weeks of ownership, I made the switch from Titan to FX4 Ford supercrew! I have to say that I took a nice loss on the Nissan, but after driving the Ford I really don't mind too much. I was having problem after problem with that poor Nissan and just got tired of dealing with it. The Ford is lacking in the power department compared to the Titan, but all other areas, the Ford is ahead in my opinion. If anyone has questions relating to comparing the two since I have actually owned both, just let me know. You will be seeing me quite a bit on here now.
What are good upgrades for this truck? What are some good websites to visit for aftermarket parts for the 150?
thanks in advance and I'll be getting you some pics soon. By the way, I got the silver 04' supercrew.
Are there any MAJOR problems I should be looking out for? My build date was 9/04, so I'm hoping that b/c it was just built I will avoid most of the early build problems.
I dont think the build date does matter cuz mines was from Feb 04 with no problem but only one one is to replace rear clutch pack cuz it shudders, some vibrating from dead stop to go like at traffic light or when to turns (L or R). replaced it and it went away and doing good!
MOds-
Most popular at this time are Aiaid intake cold, and Superchip miscotuner.
If you get this two items above here, it will wake your truck up and pretty good power and quick throttle respone.
Add aftermarket exhaust system will be nice .
What to look out for, not much.. i would say throttle respone is slow if your in hurry and worse when in revrese, its like delay throttle respone. (SUperchip will solve this problem) or bring it in dealership and complain about delay throttle respone so they ll reflash your PCM, either one.
Welcome to FTE admorris. I can second the perceived power loss on these F-series. I highly suggest getting a Superchips tuner, because I have one on mine. The throttle is much faster to react, and the overall powerband is much better. I can pass with ease, and go up hills without having to downshift. Its been a great investment. You can get one from the website that supports our wonderful forum, www.motorhaven.com . They have the best price you will find anywhere on the net (I looked, believe me). I actually turned my tuner off two days ago, and OMG....it feels like I am driving a brick house. Anyways, nice to have you on the site, and I hope to see you around the boards.
As for problems, there are some. Some have a steering wheel nibble that is caused by bad tires or improper rims. Also, some feel vibrations in the truck. My truck is definately stiffer than my 01 F150 I had, but I expected such. The frame is so much stronger, the suspension is stiffer (FX4), and I have much bigger rims with the same size tire as previous. All of these add to the sensation. There may be others, but I am not sure (I dont have any problems with mine). Our search function is actually down at the moment, but if you check out the 'User Feedback and Announcements' forum, you will find a way to search our archives via google.com

The tuner is super simple. All you have to do is plug a cable into the little diagnostic port that is underneath your steering column, and follow a few on screen instructions. In about 10 minutes or so, you will be driving a "new" vehicle. I dare say, its easier than tuning the stereo in your truck .
I test drove the Titan before besiding on the F150 and I agree it does have more power than the F-150. I test drove each of them the same day and based on the seat of the pants getting on the highwayas fast as possible test the Titan blew the F150 out the water. The other things I liked about the Titan was the factory sprayed bed liner (I really wish Ford had this), the rail system in the bed, and that cool little compartment in the rear of the driver side. All in all though, there were more things about the F150 that I liked and since I don't have a need for speed the lack of power wasn't an issue. Not to mention much better rebates on Ford. After reading your post I'm glad I decided the way I did. I'm sure you will be getting many comparision questions. Welcome to the site and welcome to Ford!
