Starting Problem
On my 99 ranger i have a problem with starting sometimes. I will turn the key and nothing will happen, it doesnt even attempt to turn over. I can put it in gear and everything, it thinks the motor is running. Sometimes, if i hold the key in the starting position, and put it into neutral it will start up. I have taken it to a mechanic 3 times. They have not figured it out. But i may have. I took a look under the car after checking out wires and relays, and i saw way up by the oil filter, that this little red cap connecting some wiring to the cyllinoid (sp?) was loose, so i popped it back on and Voila, it started. The has been happening more and more frequently and i am tired of crawiling under the truck, So how can i get this fixed? Thanks.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Oct-02 AT 10:08 PM (EST)]I haven't had a chance to look at the cap that you are putting back on but I would suspect a loose connection in that area, try tightening the connections in that area. I would also check all the other battery connections.
