I'm not too sure about what could be causing this problem so if someone could help me out that'd be great. My 96 ranger with the 4.0 V6 has a very noticable pause between shifts. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, I have a friend who does not think it is, he has a 94 ranger that had nothing like this. I know stuff about cars but I'm primarily into small little stuff, don't know too much about trucks, this is my first one. Whenever you shift, the shift **** will stick in neutral for a good second, not allowing faster shifts. I've had similar problems in a honda but this is a much longer pause and its not possible to push through it like in a honda. If anyone could help that'd be great.
Thanks
I have a 96 with a 4.0 and I had a similar problem. Sounds like maybe your clutch is not releasing properly. Have you checked the fluid level in the clutch resevoir? My slave cylinder was leaking and I had to replace it. Anyhow, it doesn't hold much fluid and it can get low real quick.
