93Ranger4x4 "reverse swap"?

Want to replace blown 2.9 with simple carb 4 cylinder for farm use only. Any experience out there with bellhousing compatability?

Get a 4 banger tranny.

*Maybe* the automatic had a removable bell, so that can be made to work, but manuals aren't that way.

I should have noted the truck is automatic. Which 4 cyl. Ford engine would you recommend?
