Hey maybe I'll have better luck here than I did on the 80-86 p/u page! I gutted out all of my pollution crap from my 82 f150 300 6 cycl for legitimate reasons. In doing so I screwed up all of the vacuum lines. What I wanted to know is what is the bare minimum vacuum lines I need hooked up in order to get the engine to run decent. I believe the the only one I need is from the vacuum advance to the carburator. I ask on the other site but all I got was some self righteous bull telling me how I'm ruining the earth! Right now all I want to do is to be able to run the truck back and forth to the dump so I can get my garage cleaned out! I know I should put it all back on, and maybe some day I will, but right now I just need an answer to my question about the needed vacuum line. Thanks for your help. If you don't want anyone to know you helped me....just email me at bow249@atmc.net.
Do you have a feedback carburetor? I think you do on an 82. If you do, bad news. Half of the emissions/vacuum/electronic stuff needs to be hooked up to make the carb work right. If that's the case, you're going to have to swap on a Carter YF carb and a Duraspark II ignition system. Including carb rebuild parts, that swap should cost under $100 if you can find a decent deal on a carb, distributor, ign. box and wiring.
If you have a YF, you're set. You need a ported vacuum line going to the distributor, a line going to the PCV valve at the back of the valve cover (don't get rid of this, it doesn't hurt anything, and keeps your engine cleaner inside and promotes less oil leakage), and a line going to the brake booster if you have power brakes.

OK let me spell this out...I need a vacuum line from the distributor to Where? Sorry I don't know what a ported vacuum line is. I also need a line from the pcv, but where to? And I know where the brake booster line goes. That's the fat one that I believe connects to the base of the carb. I live at Bow249 at atmc dot net if you want to direct mail me .Sorry for my stupidity, but I'm new at this. Thanks again.
