flatbed or stakebed

I have a 1999 Ranger extended cab 4x4 flareside that I am interested in converting to flatbed or stakebed. Are there any kits available for this, or any other information on how to do this would be appreciated.

Thank you

I don't know of any kits, other than I think JC Whitney still sells dual wheel kits for pick-ups. I thought about making my '86 into a dually flatbed. I would just fabricate a framework out of channel iron, weld on maybe 1/8" plate, and make removeable stake sides out of wood. I think Northern (northerntool.com) sells brackets for stake sides to interlock, but lift right off when you want. BTW, 2X4 steel tubing makes a great 'socket' for 2 x 4 wood uprights. That's what I use for making trailers. If you make something (or have it made) you will need different size spacers to adapt it to the frame rails, as most vehicles the frame rails are not straight, but curve up and down. Also, make sure your bed has good cab protection, so whatever you're carrying doesn't join you in the cab during a panic stop. Look at the bigger rigs on the road for ideas.
