I have an 03' F350 with 17,000 miles and the painted front bumper has a fist size hole with the paint chipped off. Any time I get the truck washed the problem seems to get worse. I was wondering if anyone else was having a proble like this? Would this be covered under the warranty? I did not hit anything as there is not a dent or scratch.
I also have a 2004 f250 with 17,000 miles and have had a few small chips I assume from gravel etc. I've never seen the dealership since I bought the truck last December and I have been touching up with paint myself.

actually, yes....
but in my "defence" it was in the middle of a parking lot and was just the narrow post with no sign on it ....
was just turning right with a blind corner to the left so I never saw it
just pushed it over at idle and barely felt anything
I am pretty sure if you take it back to the dealer with the "I have no idea how this happened" line they will warranty it. I took in my '02 with 46k on it and the front bumper, grille and step bars were rusting. They did a good faith replacement on them which I thought was very generous of them. That is one of many reasons I bought an '05.
After doing 3 years at a Ford dealership bodyshop as the parts manager I would say GO FOR IT. I've seen some ridiculously stupid things replaced under warranty--a peeling NON DAMAGED front bumper should be easy. As much trouble as they have with factory painted parts this should be easy. If your dealer balks--see another one. I've even seen bed mats replaced for "wrinkles" on high-end trucks, door seals, the list is endless. It's more up to your dealer than anyone. Don't let them repaint it--make them replace it. There's still nothing quite like that finish--it's really a good process when done correctly.
