'91- slider window latch........? / Floppy mirrors...?
New to the forums, got a couple questions for those in the know.
1. My rear slider window on my 91 ranger is missing one side of the latch piece that fits over the glass. Any ideas on where to get another one?....my local parts yard doesn't have one.
2.My truck has the stock little black mirrors and these things will not stay put. At high speed and when slamming door they turn in and are extremely loose. I took one of to find nothing to tighten up in there. Any ideas on a quick fix?
But seriously, any junkyard/"used parts dealer" should be able to fix you up with replacements. Check the Yellow Pages.

What I did to fix the problem, was to insert a set screw into the base, where the mirror pivots. Once I adjusted the mirror, I just tightened the screw up against the pivot ball. I was lucky enough to do this correctly the first time, but I could see where you could mess it up. Here is what I did . . .
Go the hardware store and purchase a #8-32 set screw. Also purchase the same size tap if you don't have one. Determine what drill bit size is required when tapping a #8-32. Next, push the mirror way out so that it is parallel to the body. Now, drill a hole through the mirror mount and directly into the pivot ball of the mirror about 1/4". You need to do this, because the tap is tapered and you will need to allow the tap to extend beyond the mirror mount to ensure full thread cutting. After the hole is drilled, DO NOT MOVE THE MIRROR! Slowly begin tapping the mirror base using thread cutting oil. Once you are done, you can now move the mirror back into position, install the set screw and tighten.
