I bought my powerstroke in the summer so i never heard the ebpv kick in. Here in Idaho its starting to get a bit nippy and i started my psd up yesterday afternoon with a temp of 45 degrees outside and heard it for the first time. Idled normal for about a minute or so then it kicked in and started screamin. Sounds loud and nice comin out of my straight pipe . Anyway thought i would share my experience, it sure gave me a "***** eatin grin" yesterday when i first heard it.
Some people like it, some don't. If you're one that likes it, you should disconnect the wiring to the pcm, and put it on a switch, so you can turn it on whenever you want to. Doing it this way, you can also use it as an exhaust brake.
OR - if you really like it - try putting stacks on your truck. It REALLY makes a racket!! The guys at work call my truck the "jet truck" - they say it sounds like a plane getting ready to take off!
i recall finding a site somewhere about how to disconnect it and make it an exhaust brake....but i don't think i have it anymore. Cat-Man, any ideas? it sounds like something i might really like....
