I am currently running two amps(one for my subs and one for my components)...The other day when I was working on my friends car I left the car off but the radio on. When I went to start it the battery was dead..Now I know I was dumb for not leaving the car running but is there anything I can do to just have the radio going but not the car because I dont want to go out and sit around listening to music with the car on....Is there anything I can do to change this or will is just draw too much power to leave it off...????

Ryan, Your vehicle's battery will only remained charged for a limited amount of time with the engine off. The battery is charged by the alternator while the engine is running. No way around that. How long it will last with the engine off depends on several things; condition of your battery and alternator, type of battery and alternator, and the audio system that you have.

Depending on how loud you were playing it and for how long, getting the largest reserve, highest CCA battery you can fit will help out. Running dual batteries will also help. Or you can do what i did and get a battery out of a Peterbilt (IIRC 1200 CCA and massive reserve power) and have reserve to spare. I ran a 400 watt RMS system for 10 hours while I was rebuilding the interior in my truck over a weekend, and it started up on Monday no problem.

running another battery would be your best choice. just wire them in parallel with an isolator switch between the two and wire your system to the 2nd battery. that way you can just shut the switch and play your stereo as long as the 2nd battery has juice and you can still start your car even if the other battery is dead.

Hook up a battery charger to your battery while you're listening to the stereo and bump as long as you want!

What are your amps RMS ratings? What are the fuses in the amps rated at?
