410?

Is the only difference between a 410 and 428 the bore? Are they any better than a 428. I know a guy that is selling one for 1800 minus the heads, he said he has a set of high performance 390 heads that need to be rebuilt but he has manley valves for them. I think he is asking too much,?

The 428 has a 4.130" bore, while the 410 has the standard 390's 4.050" bore. This is of course if they're not overbored.

And yes, he's asking too much. I could see $1000 for the 428, due to the relative rarity of the block, and the crank. I could see $600 for the 410.

The words "He is out of his friggin' mind" seem appropriate. All you are buying is the crank. Everything else is cheap and easy to find. Even the crank is only worth about $400.

Just currious, would that be a freshly rebuilt 410? Then I could see how they are justifying the price, but it's still on the high end.

Every used engine I ever inquired about was "fresh". Or so they said. They wouldn't mislead me, would they?
