You don't need the evaporator that is in the box if you never intend to have a/c, but you might want the heater core that is inside that same box come cold weather if you want a heater! During disassembly, the evaporator comes out of the box before you get to the heater core.

must be, i bet if my a/c had ever worked in my truck i'd know my compressors from my condensers! : )
