V.M. pin ...

Well, the soap opera goes on... went to parts source for the pin. The guy said,"just bring in the part and I will give you the pin. Well, no. This morning the story was different,(very upset hubby too) they as I suspected from this site, don't have a pin use the old one! Hmmm.... so, phoned Napa and they said bring in the part and we will find something. The thread on here said, use a 1/8th steel rod cut a couple of inches long. It lasted the guy 10,000 miles or kms not sure. The guy at Napa said, it probably was PLASTIC!!! What?
Plastic? Well that would explain why the magnet wouldn't work. Anyway, off to Napa to fabricate a part. Wish me luck, my daughter has Army Cadets tomorrow in Winnipeg, I sure would like to drive the van rather than the old 4x4 Toyota 1/4 ton. I'm sure that one day I will look back and the box will be following me seperately! Thanks again, I'll keep you posted.

No, that pin is definitely a steel pin. I know, because I had tried a magnet on it. Keep looking, it's there somewhere.

How to your own Vacuum Modulator "PIN"

Okay, the pin is gone forever. This is a posting to help out anyone who may be in the same boat someday. When you need a vac pin and it has vanished, a piece of welding rod cut to length will work. I went to a machine shop and when all looked grim the guy came out with a piece of welding rod with the right diameter. Now I think I still have to drain the tranny and carefully fill it to spec. It moved into gear at first. Then when I went for reverse again after park, it stopped behaving. Think maybe the fluid is too high now, because it is foaming up on the check rod. Will keep you posted and thanks again to all. Hammerhead

Just above the pan on the right front corner has a vacuum line going to it. If you remove it a slight amount of fluid will leak out. As you pull it out tip it down so you don't lose
the pin, same way going back in.

rear of tranny riders side, by the converter, the hottest spot under it.If it has been running be ready to burn your hands. The hot spot is problay why the pins get lost.

As long as you let the car cool down and take your time while remiving it, replacing this is CAKE!

My van has been running incredible since I replaced this.
