only problem is if the motor is not running and you need the winch your stuck. there are times when you need the winch with the motor turned off. I use a 9000I warn
yes that winch will pull good and strong. you won't have to worry about overheating either. if your motor dies you won't have long to operate a winchanyways so i say go with a hydro! i would go 12K lb MM hydro but i am already using my p/s box for hydro assist steering
I like my electric winch but I also have hyro assist steer and hydro boost brakes so hydro winch is out of the question. You might want to look at a better steering pump like PSC steering or Howe
heres my oppionion , the winch is good but the power steering pump idea just sucks, I have been extreme wheelin and seen numerous power steering boxes go bad ( yes even aftermarket ones) , The other problem is keeping the belt tight on a hard pull. I think if it was me i would toy around with the idea of putting a regular HYD pump with a elect clutch on it insted of using a power steering pump.
The Ramsey winches are ok but SLOW, Warn is ok if you get a hs9500, Just invest in good batteries and charging system to keep up with demand.
I currently use a Koenig 8000lb PTO , its fast and reliable , well as long as the engine is running.
Just my .o2
