I'm new to this forum eventhough I have had my 2000 X for a couple of years. Anyway, my question is, could you explain what a rear VSS is and how you fixed the problem and where you bought the part (my ABS light just came on this weekend and my cruise control is acting strange). Thanks...

The VSS is the vehicle speed sensor. It is located on top of the rear pumpkin and is available at your local Ford dealer. The VSS signal goes to the PCM (powertrain control) and the speed control servo. So it could cause the symptoms you mention.
