Somebody could probably explain this better than me but I know I had a hesitation in my acceleration while passing at highway speeds and after reading the threads on this forum I took it to the dealer and told him about it and asked to have my computer reprogramed or reflashed. They are just updating your vehicles computer. After having that done it took away most of the hesitation and I can spin the tires from a dead stop where I couldn't before.

Yes, it's the PCM flash. Don't go in and say, hey, flash my PCM, cause they won't. Make up a story that it's lacking in power, or hesitates. That should do it.

or in a couple weeks after they flash it they'll just replace your throttle position sensor like they did mine.

if you look back in the forum archives you'll see there are quite a few people who have had there's replaced due to stalling or rough idling. there's a handful of trucks out there with faulty tps. the throttle system is digital with no cables connecting the gas pedal to the engine, fly by wire. I was an f-16 mechanic in the air force, hopefully fords system is better than what we had in the jets.

Talking rEFLASH

I just had the PCM reflashed do to a stall issue on the 04 5.4 ltr F150, so far no new issues & she runs much smoother including the shifts on the tranny too. Oh & she has'nt stalled once yet.

Its gained greater pick up off the line as well.
