I have just encountered my first complaint with my 2004 F-150 4X4. Yesterday I was driving down a long wet path and had locked it in 4 wheel drive. During a couple of times while backing up I heard a scrubing in the front end. The sound didn't occur the whole time while backing. Later took it out of 4 wheel drive and went home. Then this morning, I went to back out of my driveway and I heard the scrubbing the whole time I backed up (20 yards or so). It sounds like metal scrapping. Then later this morning no scrubbing.
