need info

have a '04 screw. have no complaints at 10K mi. But my wife filled up last Friday and thought she was resetting the trip odometer but evidently the AFE display was up on the message center when she reset and now the MPG numbers bounce between 7.8 -- 32.5 mpg. I consulted the Ford bible and the only thing I can see is to drive at least 5 miles with the speed control engaged to display a stabilized avg. but this hasn't seemed to work. Haven't gotten a return call from the dealership yet, but am leaving work early today to pay them a visit. anyone know if I might be able to fix this without their assistance?

It will go back to normal average after the computer gets enough info. to average the milage. At the present it acting like an instant average.

I've had mine do that before. I had to reset my average again and it seemed to do fine after "re-resetting" it.

You should reset somewhat often anyway. To clear the data. otherwise it is overloaded with data and uses way too much to calculate.
