i plan on buying a 67-72 f100 and bagging it. should i stick with i beams and get drop ibeams and i beam bad brackets, or should i convert it to a mustang 2 front end? if i decide to do the m2 conversion where id a good place in socal to get a decent deal? has anyone dealt with scotts hotrods in ventura? how are their prices?
im willing to spend more to get better results in the long run. worse comes to worst i could always sell it for more if i do the swap. i was woundering if anybody had done it either way and how it came out. i want to lay rockers or atleast frame but i dont know if i could with i beams
ok,it can be done with i beams with major changes, the easiest way to lay her in the weeds is to do the M2 swap, but i guarentee u will never get out of it wut u put into it money wise,i buaght my truck for 600 and already have over 2 grand in it and i have had it for about 5 months or so,but im doin it for the fun and i will never sell it.....
i believe, depending on where u go,its about 1600-2300 dollors for the M2 conversion, and ur i beams are about three hundred for each or a pair, but if u need any help on anything just ask,i got enough parts megizines to kill a horse, lol
Baggin, where I come from anyways, means driving the living hell out of it. But in this case, it apparently means lowering it. The M2 conversion is referring to installing the rack and pinion steering from a Mustang II onto the front end. It's a pricey little venture, and it will lower the truck as well as offer more steering feed-back, and control, but doing it properly will make it work reliably. I've seen way to many such conversions done half right...which is simply done wrong in my books. Either buy a complete kit, or stick with the I-Beams. One thing I'll say, my 69 4x4 was a wonderful truck, and I only sold it because the gas prices became to high to afford to drive it anymore. Had a .060 over 390, dual pattern rv cam, ported intake and heads, reworked 2 bbl carb(would side-hill at near roll over angles without missing a beat) and pass pretty much anything but a gas station with the 10:1 flat tops...between the cam/compression ratio combination alone, it ran only on premium...when gas hit 1.07 a liter...I had to sell it...
ok,baggin-replacing the springs in the front with air bags, and making it easy to lower and raise perrty much where u want it,and also can replace the rear suspention with a four link and airbags
M2-mustang two conversion, where, bluntly,u cut off ur front end and replace it with a IFS(independent front suspention) designed like the old mustangs came with,it replaces ur tierod(i think)steering with rack and pinion,(just my opinion, but i would rather stick with trusted tierods then switch,i have had tons of trouble with rack and pinion),lowers ur front by 3 inches just by adding it,and it gives u an easier way out to add bags
Got a question, there are a lot of Crown Vic front end swaps going on lately so how does that swap compare to the Mustang swap as far as ride, handling, durability and ability to bag the front end the best. Later.
