I have the reversed eye monoleaves on the back of my '54. They drop the rear about 5 inches. They are, however, pretty stiff without much travel. Good thing too, because there is not a lot of room between the spring and bumpstop.
For the front, I have reversed eye spring pack and a 3in dropped axle. I got the axle from Bob's F100's (I think?) It was about 6 years ago and it seems to keep working.
Classic Performance Products has a new 3 in. dropped front axle. It looks slick, but, I've never seen it in anything other than a mag ad.
I have also heard that they are kinda stiff. I have a set of used rear monos with all the brackets from a 53. No reversed eye, but in great shape. If you are interested, email me. John
Trav - I swapped to standard eye monoleaf springs on my 56 rear, as the original spring main leaf was broken.
The standard eye and reversed eye should work the same, the reverse eye is just lower.
I found the monos to be VERY stiff at first (compared to the broken 3-leaf ones), but they have softened up some now and really ride pretty nice. I also run lower air pressure in the rear when empty, which helps.
