engine/transmission swap

Hello to all. My question: 1986 F-150 2wd with a 300 inline six and an auto transmission. Will this engine/transmission go into a 1980 F-150 4wd that has a 300 inline six and manual 4-speed transmission? Both engines carburated. Wondered about connections at transfer case and driveshaft. Of course will switch steering columns too. thanks to any replies

The motor will go in but your auto transmission will not. You will have to get a auto tranny from another 4X4 or use your 4 speed.
Steve.

One thing that you will find as well is that the ignition/carbs on the 2 motors are a bit different. The '80 300 will have the druaspark 2 & the '86 will have the TFI & a feedback carb (there's a slim possiblity that you have the first EFI, but unlikely). Do yourself a favor & switch the '86 over to the duraspark 2 & non-feedback carb. If you're going with a different intake/exhaust, still go with the duraspark 2. You're '80 F150 will be set up for it. Duraspark is the better (& simpler) system.
